A survey of 12,001 workers across the UK by gas and electricity provider E:ON has found that smaller companies are more than twice as likely to have environmentally aware employees than their larger counterparts.
The survey revealed that over a third of employees in small companies have changed their behaviour to address climate change, compared with less than a fifth in larger, international companies.
Jim Macdonald, commercial director at E:ON, says, “Businesses seeking to go green must look at cutting the red tape their employees face in implementing energy efficient work practices.”
The poll showed that more than two-thirds of respondents found it harder to be green at work than at home. Employers said this was due to feeling lees in control of their behaviour in a work environment.
