Starting a Business – How to survive…
Starting up a business can be a scary venture and can often not work out because the necessary advice is simply just not there. Sometimes starting up a business can be a truly lonely, scary and very often extremely difficult experience…
But there are a few steps for small start-up businesses – read on to find out how to survive the first few small business steps…
Motivation
It may be extremely hard to push yourself to get out and make telephone calls or get out to meetings, especially when you are on your own, but it just has to be done.
No pain, no gain – get out there and push yourself. Hopefully all your pushing will pay off one day and you will have around 25 people underneath you doing all the pushing for you as you sip on a hot cut of Earl Grey tea…until that time it’s up to you.
Time is Money
There are vicious people out there who are ready to take something from you for nothing – they especially prey on small businesses who are new to the market and have fairly exposed weaknesses that are easy to target. Don’t allow yourself to be taken for a ride.
Whenever working with a client or customer always place some sort of fee or deadline on the work – by doing this you will be turning off the time wasters and instead attracting the serious customers that will help you grow.
Be Easy
Not every start-up small business has managed to hit the nail on the head with their first attempt – sometimes it is a case of opening your business with one direction in mind and ending up going down a different route because that is where the customers, clients and money are…
Get out and meet the market. Understand what they are looking for and how much they are prepared to pay for it. You, as a small business, are able to do more to entice customers compared to larger businesses so use every trick in the book.
Sort Out Your Money
The idea is to get the level right – you don’t want to look cheap but you don’t necessarily need to splash the cash at every step.
It is very often an ideal time to outsource and get others to do the things that don’t fall under one of your strengths. Outsourcing in this way will be able to take the laborious things off your hands to leave you to make better use of your precious time.
Advice Time
Whatever happens it is always important to get hold of some good advice – the right business adviser will help your business grow by leaps and bounds so give some serious thought into finding the right person for the job.
