With social bookmarking sites becoming more and more popular, small businesses are at risk from bad customer reviews that within a matter of minutes can be all over the internet and damage your reputation badly.
According to research from BT, social sites “have created the one thing that businesses should fear more than anything’ which can ‘kill’ businesses - bad customer reviews littered across the internet.”
But the same can’t be said for positive reviews from internet users.
Director of employment policy at BT, Caroline waters adds, “Someone who doesn’t have an investment but just loves the product is ten times more valuable than all of the millions of pounds of marketing that a company can buy.”
She believes that companies should embrace the social bookmarking world’s potential because it can “influence massive communities.”
Waters says that the increasing invasion of technology into everyday life will “fundamentally change” the way business operates.
No business should avoid this new way of interacting with the people who use your products and buy your services. With social bookmarking site’s receiving huge amounts of traffic, it would be insane not to use it to your advantage.
Meanwhile, new legislation which came into force on Monday banned firms from writing false testimonials about their services on websites.
